Archives talk: Frederick Douglass & Susan B. Anthony

Join historian and author Emily Morry for her virtual history walking tour: "Douglass, Anthony, and Beyond: Activism and Social Justice in Rochester, NY." This virtual tour focuses on Rochester’s rich history of social justice activism. While the tour discusses the histories of, and sites related to, the city’s most famous agitators, Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony, it also delves into various other forms of local activism as expressed by the labor movement, the anti-draft movement, the Gay Rights movement, and others.

About the speaker: Historian and author Emily C. Morry was born in Ottawa, Canada and later moved to Montréal where she studied American history at McGill University. She earned her PhD at the University of Rochester, where she focused on African American history, urban studies, and popular culture. Her first book, Rochester Through Time, co-written with Mary Grenier, was published in 2016. She continues to research and write about local history as both a freelance writer and a proud employee of the Rochester Public Library.
