About the program: 

    Antoine A. McDonald will share useful tips and tricks on how to engage in the process of researching your own family history, as well as an overview of his role as project manager for the Archive of Black History & Culture. McDonald will highlight the plethora of both print and digital resources readily available to the public and discuss best practice for navigating genealogical resources. Currently, McDonald serves as the Reference Librarian for the Local History & Genealogy Division located in the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County.

Bio:

      Antoine A. McDonald is a Rochester native and proud product of the Rochester City School District. McDonald earned his bachelor's degree in mass communications/Broadcast Journalism and a master's degree in library science, making him a double HBCU (Historically Black College and/or University) graduate. He is currently the only African American male librarian in the Rochester Public Library system. McDonald is the Reference Librarian in the Local History & Genealogy Division where he serves as Project Manager for the Archive of Black History & Culture, implements programming for patrons of all ages, and fields reference questions in various formats. McDonald also shares a passion for promoting literacy through youth services.
