Family-Friendly Program

On April 8, 2024 the sun and moon will once again align for a total solar eclipse in Rochester NY, the first in over 100 years. The last eclipse seen here in 2017 appeared as a partial eclipse but this time we will see the main event as the track of totality passes right over the city.

Join NASA Solar System Ambassador Jim Porter to discover the exciting, once in a lifetime opportunity that awaits us on April 8, 2024. This family-friendly program will be suitable for school-aged and up. In order to accommodate as many people as possible, this program will be held at 3 Vince Tofany Blvd in The Center's Multi-Purpose Room. Registration is required.

Jim Porter worked as an aerospace engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA and Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. His presentations are popular, engaging and easy to listen to for all levels.

Each registered attendee will receive one pair of certified eclipse viewing glasses at the end of this program.
