Family-Friendly Program
Etched on the façade of Eastman Theatre is the phrase, “for the enrichment of community life.” For more than 100 years, Eastman has brought that idea to life by sharing the joy of music with the Rochester community. When George Eastman first imagined this space, his dream was simple and powerful: to create a place where people of all ages could discover, make, and enjoy music together. That dream continues today.
For the past 30 years, Music For All has brought live music beyond the concert hall and into welcoming, unexpected places throughout the community. This special performance features a lively chamber group of Eastman School of Music students performing an engaging mix of kid-friendly instrumental music. Families can expect an interactive, joyful experience that invites children to listen, imagine, and connect with music in a fun and relaxed setting—perfect for young ears and curious minds.
"VIOL4 Quartet" will play excerpts from the Romanza for Four Violas by Christopher Lowry and other repertoire to illustrate parts, ask questions to the audience, then perform the whole thing for the public. After the performance, everyone is invited to ask questions to the musicians.
